Over the months of October and November, 2011, several companies on the West Coast have been keeping Mark busy with multiple Nike projects. All in all, he worked 10-14 hour days for almost thirty days straight on nine separate videos. After taking a small break (four days) he is now back in the thick of it, once again, and is enjoying every minute of it.

Outside of his client work, Mark is also working alongside Animation Dynamics on a live-action / CGI infused short film called, “Persephone.” The story is about a young girl who is made of chocolate and is held captive in a candy shop by two cruel guardians. This project is set for release early 2012 and updates on the post-production process can be found at the Persephone Blog.

Persephone is just one of several farables in Mark’s new book, “Weevil and Nightshade’s Compendium of Farables & Tales“, which is set to be published late 2011. The book is a collection of farables;  short stories that incorporates zoomorphic qualities, defects or mutations within a person that results in the teaching of a moral or ethical lesson of a dark and complex nature. His intend is to create a transmedia based construct with each story by either developing them into short films, AR based books, illustrated novels, or mobile based interactive games.

Mark is also an active screenwriter who has successfully optioned several scripts over the past ten years. He is currently knee-deep in penning two new feature scripts: “Kids Across the Creek” takes place in the early 1980′s and revolves around the nightly adventures of a newly transplanted California teenager who is struggling to find his place in a small Missouri town. “The Vastness” is a post-apocalyptic, sci-fi adventure about a single father who is forced to participate in a deadly demolition derby in order to rescue his two children from a society that has lost its ability to reproduce.

Wasteland Films was formed in 2007 by Mark and his business partner Greg Demchak. Together, they produced a web series entitled, “Lady Wasteland“. The series accrued over a million views since it’s launch, November 2007. Work is now being considered for a re-branding of the series as an animated graphic novel.
