The Weevil & Nightshade Compendium of Farables & Tales

Share on TwitterShare on TumblrShare via email

For the past year I’ve been writing a collection of fables, parables and tales which will be distributed via eBook by summer, 2011.  While the traditional methodology of writing fables is based around the anthropomorphism of human qualities into animals, nature or objects, which result in a moral or ethical lesson being taught or conveyed, I am instead reversing this methodology by incorporating the qualities of animals, objects and nature into the characters themselves. Therefore, these stories shall be referred to as farables; the combination of parables and fables, with a twist of tongue.

The tales within the Weevil & Nightshade Compendium do not contain absolutes or prevailing lessons which contain a distinct moral or ethical lesson. Many of the endings in this compendium are purposely left without such absolutes, to entice discussion,  reflection and thought. The farables are designed to provide the reader with a tangential viewpoint to how the character responds to complicated, life-altering situations.

Seven out of fifteen farables and tales have already been created. Three of these stories are currently being illustrated into individual books and another is undergoing concept development for a short film which will eventually be programmed into an interactive iBook.

I look forward to the publication of these works and response and thoughts of the readers.
